Youth baseball for parents who want the kid to keep loving it

Most kids who play youth baseball won't play in college, and that's fine. What we want for them is simpler: that they keep playing as long as they're having fun, that they learn to fail at the plate and come back the next at-bat, and that the car ride home is about ice cream instead of a breakdown of every swing.

This section is for the parents in folding chairs and the volunteers who said yes to coaching. We cover gear that actually fits a growing kid without costing a mortgage payment, practice ideas for coaches who've never run a practice, what to pack for a doubleheader in July heat, and how to handle the sideline when emotions get loud.

We'll never treat an 11-year-old like a draft prospect, and we won't mock a kid's mistake for a laugh. When a topic touches on injuries or arm care, we keep it general and point you to your pediatrician or a qualified trainer. Baseball is supposed to be the good part of a kid's week. We write with that in mind.
